Posted by on Jun 12, 2013 in Label | 0 comments

Primera Label recently announced the release of a new, optimized version of our previous DL500 Durable Label Printer.  The LP130 Laser Marking System has a number of significant improvements including up to 25 percent faster print speeds than the DL500. It is also compatible with a wide variety of laser-markable tapes, labels and tags. LP130 utilizes a high-powered laser for marking instead of inkjet or thermal transfer inks which generally have less durability than laser-marked materials. LP130 enables fast and easy in-house production of labels and tags for use in a wide range of severe and harsh-duty applications, including the U.S. Department of Defense’s IUID Program labels, UDI labels for medical devices and healthcare equipment, automobile VIN and under-hood part number, warning and instruction labels, aerospace and solar panel labels, serial tags for outdoor equipment, automobile parts, building materials and much more. Peace Coffee Uses Primera LX900 for Short-Run Labels

Peace Coffee Uses Primera LX900 for Short-Run Labels

A do-it-yourself (DIY) package printing setup doesn’t have to be elaborate or complicated to use. A case in point is the solution employed by Peace Coffee, a roaster, grinder and distributor of coffees that it sources from fair-trade certified growers. These are mostly small farmers who are assured of getting an equitable market price when they deal with Peace Coffee and other socially aware firms that have pledged to observe fair-trade practices. Because these varietal batches are tiny compared with the output of national-brand coffee producers, mass-produced packaging and labeling methods are of limited use to Peace Coffee. The company has found a helpful alternative in the LX900 label printer from Primera Technology, a tabletop inkjet device designed for very-short-run applications. With its LX900, Peace Coffee can tailor package presentation to package contents in ways that would be well-nigh impossible on a conventional scale. In the February issue of Flexible Packaging Magazine, Primera Technology Product Manager Peter Chalmers discusses how flexible packaging can be a differentiator for brands looking to increase sales. Brand owners can now choose from an affordable array of narrow-web printing materials and equipment to create lightweight packaging that is attractively printed to maximize shelf appeal. This can be a great alternative to outsourced printing options, giving private label, regional and national brands the tools they need to compete for consumer dollars. Conquering the Label in Private Label

Conquering the Label in Private Label

Posted by on Dec 21, 2012 in Label | 0 comments

One certainty in an uncertain economy is the growth of private label brands.  Budgets are tightening and people are thinking critically about their buying choices. As consumers have more positive experiences with private label products, a ratcheting effect is occurring in which some consumer products that were previously thought impervious to private label competition are beginning to leak market share.  Strong examples of this effect can be seen in organic food products, personal care products, and confectionaries.  Retail chains that sell these products to consumers are seeking vendors that can produce a high quality finished product under their store brand name. A slow economy also changes the business strategy of inventors and entrepreneurs in ways that drive the private label market.  Seeking to minimize their start up costs and exposure to risk, inventors and entrepreneurs are utilizing contract manufacturing to bring their products to market.  As a result, manufacturers need to have a flexible, responsive, and economical label printing solution in place. The majority of private label opportunities involve orders of less than 10,000 pieces.  Printing labels for such orders via flexographic or offset printing are often margin reducing or cost prohibitive since these modalities usually involve lead times, minimum orders, set up fees, die charges and plate charges.  The proofing process is also much longer with these analog technologies. Digital label printing allows manufacturers to print labels in-house, on-demand, and with no die charges or plate charges.  Making the investment in digital label printing equipment allows companies to bridge the gap between their manufacturing capability and appealing to private label brands as a viable vendor. Conquer the label, and you can begin to conquer in the private label...
